They arrived together and sat next to each other, said a spy, adding the actors were in deep conversation.
They stayed for an hour at the packed party and looked happy and very friendly.
Gyllenhaal wore a casual black baseball cap and jeans while McAdams went with a little back dress, and they headed over to the fight together.
Other sources have said they are friendly costars doing research for their filming which Gyllenhaal plays a pugilist.

Jennifer Lopez, who was supposed to perform the official song of this year’s World Cup (“We Are One”) at the opening ceremony Thursday, has pulled out.
“Regretfully Jennifer Lopez will not be attending this year’s World Cup opening ceremonies,” her rep said in a statement.
“For production issues, Jennifer Lopez, one of the artists of the official song ‘We Are One,’ will not be able to perform at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony,” FIFA said in a statement.
