No Added Sugar, More Protein – SCORE!

At the end of the day, I am a mother and my son’s well-being is the most important thing for me….

While packing Calvin’s lunch the other day, I happened to glance at the nutritional panel of the kids protein bar I included as a healthy snack. It had 10 grams of sugar! I was shocked. When I bought it I got it for the 5 grams of protein. It was labeled all natural/organic. So it had to be healthy right?

Then I stopped at the coffee shop and grabbed Calvin a greek yogurt and granola parfait. That’s a healthy breakfast, right?

FORTY-FIVE GRAMS OF SUGAR. 45! Can you imagine the crash he’d have mid morning if he ate 45 grams of sugar for breakfast? Even if we split it it’d be 22 grams more than either one of us need in a single serving!

Between the “healthy” protein bar and greek yogurt – I almost pumped 55 grams of sugar into him before noon. The worst part is I looked to both because Calvin needs protein! But between the 2 sources, he would have only gotten about 14 grams.

So when I saw “MTV Challenges” veteran Mark Long tweeting about #betterkidsnutrition – he had my attention. Mark and Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers are working together on a protein drink for kids.

Now, I have no fear of Calvin becoming even overweight let alone obese, but after seeing how easy it is to overload him on sugar while thinking I’m giving him healthy options it hit me why childhood obesity is such an epidemic. I reached out to ask Mark what exactly he was up to and begged for a sample.

Pocket Protein KIDZ is a dream come true. It is 7 grams of protein in a convenient 2 oz squeezie pack that never needs refrigeration. It’s made with real apple juice and no artificial sweeteners, colors or sodium benzoate which is huge if your child is ADD/ADHA. It has no added sugar! PLUS it is lactose, gluten and nut free; making it perfect for kids with food allergies.

As great as all that sounded I was cynical. After all, I bought the yogurt and protein bar thinking they were good for Calvin. PPK sounded a little too good to be true. So I asked is it really safe? Mark shocked me with the answer! He and Doc wanted to make absolutely sure parents could feel good about giving their kids PPK, so they took the extra time and spent the extra money to adhere to all the same FDA rules and regulations as juice or milk! Very few (if any) of the other protein options out there do that!

Protein challenge solved, right? Not yet. Mark’s ready to launch, but he needs to raise the money to go into full production. He is doing that through a pre-order campaign at https://pocketproteinkidz.tilt.com/pocket-protein-kidz.

For a limited time, we can pre- order Pocket Protein KIDZ and get it before it hits stores. I love the idea of getting my hands on PPK ASAP but I love it even more that right now, Mark will match every order with a donation to the LA Regional Food Bank. So I can make sure Calvin gets the protein he needs during the day, AND I can help someone in need.

What more could you ask, especially so close to Thanksgiving?!

I hope you’ll check it out and be sure to watch the video. It will give you real peace of mind about the kind of people involved and their commitment to quality. https://pocketproteinkidz.tilt.com/pocket-protein-kidz.

PS if you want to try Pocket Protein for yourself in 15 or 20 grams – I just saw a few at Ralph’s here in Southern California! AND it’s on sale!!
