Mischa Barton Sues Her Momager for Stealing and Lying
“The O.C.” actress Mischa Barton has sued her mother, claiming she stole money that the actress earned over the course of her acting career.
Barton claims her mother, Nuala Barton, has kicked her out of an $8 million Beverly Hills home bought with money earned from her early career. Barton says her mom took out loans against the home, and neither of her parents are working but still live in the mansion.
Nuala served as her daughter’s manager over the course of her career, and the lawsuit claims she lied about the amount her daughter was being paid for a movie in 2013 and pocketed the difference on top of the 10 percent she was paid as a management fee.
29-year-old Barton claims she realized her mother had been hiding money from her after speaking to the production company behind the film. Barton also says her mom used her name for deals and businesses, but never paid her endorsement fees.
Mischa began her career when she was just 8-years-old and shot to fame at 17 years old when she starred in “The O.C.”
