Sunday night’s MTV Video Music Awards were the most-tweeted non-Super Bowl event in U.S. history.
21.4 million tweets were sent throughout the show and three hours on each side of the program. It was a 69% increase from last year’s awards which saw 12.6 million tweets.
Kanye West had the most popular moment, with 247,525 tweets after he announced he would run for President of the United States in 2020.
Miley Cyrus has come out as a “pansexual,” and her father says the family supports her.
Billy Ray Cyrus says, “We’ve always been very open-minded. Listen, it’s all about love and light. Forget the negativity and the haters.”
He continued, “She’s rocking and rolling and having a good time. What the world needs is love. There’s too much hate…The world needs positive influences.”
“Even when she was a little girl, we told her, ‘Hey, baby, do what you do and have fun doing it. Do it because you love it, not because you have to.’ Seeing her happy is the greatest thing ever.”
Miley recently came out about her sexuality when she was asked about dating Victoria’s Secret model Stella Maxwell.
