YIKES! Air Fresheners And Scented Candles Could Be “Killing Thousands Every Year”
A study has found that air fresheners and scented candles are causing air pollution inside homes, putting lives at risk.
The study says that people are putting insulation in homes to keep out drafts and save energy, but that’s also trapping toxins in the air of the home.
The report warns that at least 40,000 deaths a year (in the UK) can be linked to the effect of air pollution outside and inside the home. It may also contribute to 99,000 deaths a year in Europe.
It suggests that everyday kitchen products, faulty boilers, open fires, fly sprays, air fresheners, deodorants and cleaning products contribute to poor indoor air quality.
The report demands that more be done to crack down on the issue and protect the public from harmful pollution, especially in urban areas and close to schools.
